An end to cavities?

Researchers have been working on a chemical that could become our greatest weapon in the battle against decay.  The chemical called “Keep 32” has been shown to eliminate the bacteria (S. Mutans) that causes dental decay.

Researchers hope this could be incorporated into dental care products, and even to food and drinks to help battle decay.  There is still considerable research to be done on this.  It is not currently available to the consumer but if research proves favorable, may be within 1-2 years.  Even if this becomes available, the need for routine dental care will still exist.  Keep 32 does not address many common problems such as periodontal disease, broken teeth, malocclusion or cosmetic concerns.

Douglas Dental has always taken a preventive approach to dentistry and “Keep 32” could be another way to help keep our patients cavity free.
