Give it to me straight!

One of the most common questions I get from parents regarding their children’s dental health is “will my child need braces?”  This is a very legitimate concern as having an attractive smile with perfectly aligned teeth is something many of us strive for.

Orthodontics, commonly referred to as “braces”, is a specialty within the dental field.  Orthodontists receive advanced training after dental school in treatment of anything from crowding of teeth to severe cranio-facial abnormalities.  The General Dentist works closely with the Orthodontist in recognizing a problem exists and maintaining oral health before, during and after orthodontic treatment.  Some General Dentists provide orthodontic treatment within their offices after receiving advanced training.

At Douglas Dental we provide dental care to patients of all ages.  We commonly refer children over to the orthodontist as early as age 6 and have had patients in their 50’s undergo orthodontic treatment.  If you have questions about how orthodontics or cosmetic dentistry can change your image, contact Douglas Dental.
